Strengthening Skills on Commercial and Economic Diplomacy

CUTS, a Jaipur-based non-governmental think-tank on trade and regulatory issues, organised a training programme in Jaipur from 18 to 21 August on “Strengthening Skills on Commercial and Economic Diplomacy” for middle-level Indian government officials and business executives. It is supported by the Department of Commerce, Government of India.

Prof. Raymond Saner was one of the trainers of the workshop and provided training on multi-actor FDI negotiations.

Co-author of article titled “Fine-tuning Turkey’s economic diplomacy In support of its EU accession process” with Mehmet Ögütçü London-based senior multinational business executive and former Turkish diplomat and Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) director. Professor Raymond Saner presented joint paper at the 7th regional congress of the International Council for Central and East European Studies (ICCEES), Berlin, 2-4 August 2007.

Facilitation of Expert-meeting on "Abyei’s Deadlock"

Facilitation of Expert-meeting on ‘Abyei’s Deadlock: the role of international key actors’, in Amsterdam, NL, 11-12 December 2006. The Dutch non-governmental development organisations ICCO, Cordaid and Pax Christi organised a meeting of international key actors regarding the implementation of the Abyei Protocol in an informal and open debate on how the international community could support Sudan in escaping this deadlock. By inviting the experts of the Abyei Boundary Commission (ABC), representatives of the most important countries involved, such as the Netherlands and the United Kingdom, academic researchers, and non-governmental organisations working in Abyei, the organizing agencies aim at contributing to a common analysis of obstacles, opportunities and clarification of specific roles and responsibilities for NGOs and government actors in the Abyei process. The goal of the meeting was to draft concluding recommendations to all international actors involved.
